Blog Ethics

In a blog on blog ethics the topic came up about context of linking and quoting from other sources - whether it was ethical or not? Apparently the Associated Press has attempted to get some bloggers to stop using quotes from stories. Several bloggers are upset because they feel the have a right to pull quotes from articles. On the flip side the question arises is it content used (quotes) being taken out of context and is it still journalism?

The upset bloggers feel that people who are blogging are fully aware of what they sign on to when they are on a blog site. It is not exactly factual but more opinion oriented. Any content taken from articles is used more as topic generators and allows bloggers to have their voices heard about the topic at hand. I would have to agree with the bloggers, no harm done. Journalism is always respected but so should a bloggers opinion.
